This Privacy Policy explains how Unified Reader : Free AI Text to Speech (TTS) ("Unified Reader", "the Extension", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Unified Reader Chrome extension.
Depending on the features you use, Unified Reader may process:
Unified Reader can access webpage content when necessary to provide its Reader functionality.
The extension may read content from a supported webpage so that the content can be displayed, processed, or converted into speech by the selected Reader.
When you use the "Read selection with Unified Reader" context-menu feature, only the text you select is sent to the Reader functionality.
Unified Reader does not intentionally collect or store all webpages you visit merely because the extension is installed.
Unified Reader supports multiple Reader providers, including:
The selected provider may process content according to its own service, privacy policy, and terms. Unified Reader does not control the privacy practices of third-party AI or content services.
You should review the privacy policies and terms of the relevant provider if you use that provider through Unified Reader.
Unified Reader uses Chrome's extension storage facilities, including
chrome.storage.local, to remember extension preferences.
Examples include:
These preferences are stored locally in the user's Chrome profile unless a feature specifically requires communication with our payment or backend infrastructure.
Unified Reader offers optional Premium plans through Razorpay Payment Pages.
Available plans may include short-duration Premium memberships such as 2-day, 5-day, and 10-day plans.
Payments are processed by Razorpay. Unified Reader does not directly collect or store your complete card number, bank account credentials, UPI credentials, wallet credentials, or other full payment credentials.
Payment information is handled by Razorpay according to Razorpay's own privacy policy and terms.
After a successful payment, Razorpay sends a signed notification to our payment infrastructure so that the corresponding Premium membership can be activated.
Unified Reader uses a Cloudflare Worker as part of its payment infrastructure.
The Worker is used to communicate with Razorpay Payment Pages and process payment-related events required to unlock Premium functionality.
We do not use this payment infrastructure to sell personal information or to create advertising profiles.
To provide Premium functionality, the extension may process information such as a payment reference, membership status, plan information, and membership expiration information.
This information is used only for payment verification and Premium feature access.
Unified Reader may request Chrome permissions required for features such as reading selected webpage content, displaying the Reader, maintaining extension state, responding to toolbar actions, context-menu actions, and refreshing Premium membership information.
Permissions are used only for the functionality provided by the extension.
Unified Reader uses Chrome alarms for tasks such as payment status polling and membership refresh.
Alarms do not independently provide access to your personal information. They are used to schedule extension tasks required for the corresponding functionality.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
Information may be transmitted to third-party services when necessary to provide functionality that you explicitly use, including AI Reader providers and payment services.
Such third parties process information according to their own policies and terms.
Unified Reader does not sell user data or use webpage content for targeted advertising.
The Extension does not intentionally build advertising profiles based on the webpages you read.
Local preferences remain in Chrome storage until they are removed by the Extension, reset by the user, or Chrome's extension data is cleared.
Payment-related records may be retained by payment providers and infrastructure providers according to their respective policies and legal obligations.
You can stop using Unified Reader at any time and remove the extension from Chrome.
You can also clear the extension's stored data through Chrome's extension management and browser settings.
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by Unified Reader and its supporting infrastructure.
However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Unified Reader is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Extension's functionality, data practices, or applicable requirements change.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
